  1. Welcome to the Jersey Leonis Website 🥊🥊

This club has supported and been a home to many people through out the years and we would love to hear your story connecting you to the club.

We are thrilled to have you here 🙂 and would love for you to leave us a comment

  2. Leonis quite literally changed the direction of my life. The club is by far not only the best boxing club in Jersey but throughout the Channel Islands.

I personally, have represented both Jersey and Guernsey competitively as a boxer on many occasions over around 10 years. I started by journey as a boxing coach at Leonis under Dave Thompson and his ethics still run deep to this day. Tony Burt, Miguel Ferreira and Kevin Baudains have continued the hardwork Dave did and continue to do a fantastic job.

I personally since have continued coaching over the last 15 years in both Jersey, Guernsey and have involved myself as a trainer at various clubs throughout the southwest of England and to this day I would still say that the club sits a comfortable place in my heart. I will always take away my coaching and boxing methods to pass on to young people from my Leonis days and will always run deep.

Unlike many boxing clubs Leonis is a non profit organisation, the coaches do what they do for the raw love of the sport and community.

When I return to Jersey I would always pass by whether it is open or closed just to grab any old memories.

The club is also in a beautiful location – the hills allow the hard runs and the fresh air and will hopefully be there long long after I’m gone.

To box competitively under England Boxing Regulations, Leonis is the only club in Jersey which enables any one person to do so.

  3. A fantastic club with great history. It was a privilege to box as an amateur on the Leonis home show and one of the highlights of my amateur boxing career. If you’re interested in getting into boxing, competing and representing the island get down and get training!!

  4. I have dealt with Jersey Leonis ABC for several years and have a very good relationship with a number of coaches, officials and boxers from the club who have always made me and the teams we have brought over from Islington Boxing Club and London selects very welcomed.

Their hospitality is spot on and the trips are always enjoyable regardless if the team has been won, lost or tied. Always very competitive contests and remembered for the right reasons, to progress the sport of boxing.

Jersey Leonis are a fantastic asset to their community and the island itself, I hope former members of the club choose to get involved to keep Leonis progressing forwards as they do a lot of promoting and fundraising for their activities especially when it comes to entering tournaments and championships in England and aboard.

Well done on the website, it is very good and easy to access. Keep on punching!

  5. I have been a member of leonis amateur boxing club for 17 years now and it has changed my life for the best. I joined when the late Dave Thomson was in charge and he gave me a purpose and taught me discipline and respect. There i also met my coach Tony Burt who took my on as an apprentice and gave me a trade in tiling which i am to this day working for my self. I was also privileged to be the club captain where i travelled all over the uk boxing in club shows and championships where it improved my boxing immensely. The club then put me through a coaching course where i’m now a qualified coach and coach the juniors as well as the seniors and have had the pleasure of taking a squad to the Haringey Box Cup at the famous Alexandra Palace in london and the Celtic club in Ireland. This club and boxing has changed my life in so many positive ways and shaped me in to the man i am today. i would really recommend to any one to join leonis ABC it’s not just a hobby it’s a lifestyle it’s helped so many kids in the past and i’m sure will still keep helping kids in the future.

  6. I have been a supporter and spectator of Leonis Boxing Club for over 40 years, from a time when the coaches were Bert Turmel, Brian Rousseau and Dave Thompson. Over the years the Club has given hundreds of young lads discipline and guidance to keep them from taking the wrong path in life. The old ‘smelly’ traditional South Hill Gym is a very special place to generations of teenagers who have been brave enough to walk through those doors to take up the incredible and ‘real’ sport of amateur boxing.

The past 10 years have seen many changes at the Club as it moves to keep up with the times and deal with the challenges of keeping the boxers focussed, not only on their fitness, but learning and improving their technical boxing skills to enable them to step into the ring for their first proper fight. The past decade has also welcomed girls into the ring, which has been a positive move as women’s boxing continues to go from strength to strength!

It’s a tough sport and one that requires long term dedication if the boxer will reach their potential but with hard work by the boxers Leonis will continue for years to come.

  7. Awww…such a good website and a great club. Will always feel like family no matter how old i get! Thanks for putting up with me over the years, would definitely recommended that people go along and give it a go.

  8. Super boxing club with great history, ethics and morals, I wish you all good luck and looking forward to your future shows.

  9. Superb boxing club!

100% recommend Leonis for improving young people’s overall wellbeing and academic achievements and being part of a team, regardless of ability!

Our son started going 4 years ago as a junior on a Sunday morning! He stuck with the training and it’s changed his life for the better.

The team of coaches have been an incredible support to us when things got tough, they were there for son like extended family.

They not only believed in him, they made him believe in himself. Last week he stepped into the ring for the first time!

Something tells me it won’t be the last time! 🥊

I promise to do better at containing my nerves next time 😂

Thank you for all that you do!

  10. I have been involved with jersey Leonis boxing club for many years helping train the juniors and also been a judge for over 10yrs the future looks good it’s nice to see the juniors on the show
